About Us

Wakha is the absolutely one of a kind restaurant where You choose your cut and We prepare your meat the way you like it. Shinwari cuisine is renowned for customized butchering and cooking. It’s like the old fashioned butcher rooted in traditions that run deep, where specialist block man cut and chef prepare your meat. Take away or eat in, a selection of great Shinwari and Afghan food awaits you.

At Wakha, we want you to admire and feel the warmth of the authentic Shinwari and Afghan cuisines. The staff and management make it their priority to ensure that customers receive excellent service and are served with meals of the highest quality in presentation, refinement, and taste.

Eastern folk used to say that “herbs and spices do the work and trick while the lady of the house takes all the credit”. However, here at Wakha we strongly believe in team work to produce outstanding results and that’s why our kitchen staff and chef put their experiences and skills together to combine with exact timing of when and how much quantity of finely selected herbs and spices to use in each recipe to enhance and balance the achievement of delicious and tantalizing meals.

Shinwari Cuisine

The distinctive feature of Shinwari cuisine is that meat is charcoal grilled or cooked with no spices but salt and is cooked in lamb’s own fat, making it uniquely delicious.  Our lamb is hung and aged to perfection. One can see fresh lamb hanging on racks and black woks set above burners, so at a table with a bird’s-eye view of the chefs in action, you’re guaranteed to have a unique and memorable dining experience.

One of the Signature dishes in the Shinwari cuisine is Dumpukht. A great deal of care and attention is given to the precise moment , not a moment sooner or later, of cooking a succulent lamb meat on a very low flame in its juices and bone marrow and adding the balanced amount of special ingredients and spices to give it that exquisite taste and aroma that we are well known for

Afghan Cuisine

Afghanistan is nestled between Iran, the Indian Subcontinent and the former Soviet Union. That positioning has also led to some great flavor combinations that make use of native ingredients and the palates of Afghanistan’s neighbors.

Afghan cuisine offer a real-time alternatives for those interested in the rich Central Asian culture of Afghanistan. Persian, Indian, Chinese and Mediterranean cultures influence Afghan food,  Onions play a part in everything, meat often features prominently and mint is often used as a garnish.

The flagship dish of Afghan cuisine is the Kabuli Pulao, which consists of tender meat (usually beef) domed under rice that’s mixed with lentils, raisins and julienned carrots. The mantou is a meat-stuffed dumpling topped with yogurt that takes its cues from Chinese and Central Asian cuisines. Kebabs also feature prominently.

Why us?

Our goal is to serve you with the healthiest, freshest and the most authentic Shinwari and Afghan cuisines in town without using any processed spices and oil, we only use natural green spices, black paper, salt and lamb fat or fresh butter.
